A new bioenergy complex for the production of biomethane and electricity from organic feedstock and livestock waste is planned in Dubno district of Rivne region. The project is being initiated by Energy Company Tekhnolohiya LLC, which has already published the relevant documentation in the Unified Environmental Impact Assessment Register.
The future bioenergy complex is planned to be located near the village of Redkiv in the Krupec community of Dubno district. The project provides for the processing of organic feedstock, including livestock waste, to produce biogas, followed by its upgrading into biomethane and the generation of electricity.
According to the project documentation, the capacity of the complex will reach up to 15 million cubic meters of biogas per year. After upgrading, the facility will be able to produce up to 6 million cubic meters of biomethane annually. The resulting biomethane is planned to be injected into Ukraine’s gas transmission system, which would allow for a partial substitution of imported natural gas and increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy mix.
In addition, the complex will produce up to 25,000 MWh of electricity per year. The electricity is expected to be used for the company’s own needs or sold on the energy market. Residual by-products from the processing of organic feedstock are planned to be used as organic fertilizers for agriculture.
The project provides for the creation of around 35 new jobs. The complex will operate year-round on a two-shift basis.
Energy Company Tekhnolohiya LLC was registered in February 2024 in the village of Redkiv, Dubno district, Rivne region. The main owners of the company are Hanze Agri Ukraine LLC with an 80% stake and Moloko Vitchyzny LLC, which holds 20%. The controlling stake of 51.21% is linked to Volodymyr Zaiets, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and co-owner of Hanze Agri Ukraine.
Hanze Agri Ukraine has been operating on the Ukrainian agricultural market since 2017 and specializes in grain trading, agricultural production, grain storage, the supply of fertilizers and seeds, as well as financing agricultural enterprises, including against future harvests. The company was established by the founders of several industrial and packaging businesses, including Tekhnolohiya JSC, Guala Closures Ukraine LLC, and Gualapack Ukraine LLC.
The implementation of the project is in line with the broader trend of bioenergy development in Ukraine, where interest in biomethane production is growing as an alternative to natural gas and as a tool for strengthening the country’s energy independence.
