BlueBird Tech Launches Serial Production of Ukrainian Guided Aerial Bombs Amid Growing Investment in Defense-Tech

Ukrainian technology company BlueBird Tech has announced a merger with a research and design bureau to develop and launch serial production of domestically made guided aerial bombs

Ukrainian technology company BlueBird Tech has announced a merger with a research and design bureau to develop and launch serial production of domestically made guided aerial bombs. The new area may become one of the company’s most capital-intensive projects and reflects a broader trend toward the scaling of Ukraine’s defense-industrial production.

Ukrainian engineers specializing in missile engineering are expected to be involved in the industrial project. The company said that BlueBird Tech and the design bureau have already started working on the first engineering tasks. The priority will be the development of Ukrainian guided aerial bombs as precision strike systems, demand for which has increased significantly due to changes in the nature of warfare.

BlueBird Tech says the decision to launch the new area is a response to Russia’s mass use of guided aerial bombs. Ukraine’s defense-tech market is gradually moving from the production of individual tactical solutions to more complex industrial systems that require engineering cooperation, production capacity, certification, government procurement and long-term financing.

For BlueBird Tech, the guided aerial bomb project is a continuation of its diversification strategy in defense technologies. The company, which began with FPV drones, electronic warfare systems, drone detectors, communications systems and unmanned ground vehicles, also announced in April the launch of a missile segment focused on air defense solutions.

From an investment perspective, BlueBird Tech’s entry into the guided aerial munitions segment demonstrates a new stage in the development of Ukraine’s miltech market. While the first wave of growth was primarily associated with drones, electronic warfare and detection systems, the focus is now gradually shifting toward more complex systems: missiles, interceptors, autonomous platforms, guided munitions and solutions to counter aerial threats.

BlueBird Tech is one example of the rapid scaling of Ukrainian defense-tech companies during the full-scale war. According to Forbes, citing YouControl, the company’s revenue in 2025 increased 11.3 times to UAH 196.5 million, while net profit rose to UAH 31 million. This dynamic indicates the formation of a new class of technology-driven defense manufacturers in Ukraine, combining engineering development, serial production and rapid product adaptation based on feedback from the military.

An additional factor of interest in the company has been its participation in the Pentagon’s Drone Dominance program. The program is focused on scaling modern unmanned systems and envisages the procurement of more than 200,000 drones by 2027. For Ukrainian manufacturers, participation in such initiatives opens opportunities to enter international defense markets, test solutions within partner programs and attract strategic partnerships.

The development of the guided aerial bomb segment also fits into the broader logic of state support for Ukraine’s defense-tech sector. Brave1’s priorities include guided munitions, missiles, anti-KAB solutions, counter-drone systems and autonomous strike platforms. This creates prerequisites for the emergence of new investment niches in component manufacturing, engineering R&D, testing infrastructure, electronics, navigation solutions, software and contract manufacturing.

In 2026, Ukraine’s defense industry is viewed as one of the key sectors for attracting capital, technology and international cooperation. Against the backdrop of growing demand for local defense solutions, BlueBird Tech’s launch of a serial guided aerial bomb production project may become an important indicator of Ukraine’s miltech transition from rapid tactical developments to large-scale industrial programs.
