Coursmos start-up attracts $3 mln

Coursmos will use the raised funds for entry into the international market

In the new round of investments Coursmos micro-training platform is planning to raise $3 mln. Current investors of Altera Investment Fund and business angel Evgeniy Medvednikov confirmed the participation round A to the value of $850 thous.

Coursmos is planning to use this funds for entry into the international market and expansion of platform localization in 27 countries, increase in number of students and teachers, and also marketing, developing of web-platform and mobile apps.

“Venture funds of China, USA and Europe will participate in the new round” tells Roman Kostochka, one of the founders and CEO of Coursmos. “We want to further develop and improve the open online platform for transferring and knowledge monetizing and also enter the new markets and become the global company”.

On the seed stage in February 2015 the project raised $600 thous from Altera Investment Fund and Imperious Group. Earlier Coursmos raised $530 thous from Imperious Group and business angel Evgeniy Medvednikov. In 2013 Coursmos received its first investments equal to $150 thous from business incubator Happy Farm and business angel Viktor Belov.

Currently Coursmos has more than 900 thous students, and teachers’ number is north of 7 thous. Upon that each user can create his own micro-course or even an online school. Platform presents 35 thous micro-courses on 20 different educational directions, which makes Coursmos the biggest platform in the world for the amount and assortment of online courses. Because of micro-format of trainings, the percentage of students` completion of the classes is equal to 65%.  Project is presented on web, iOS and Android platforms. Purchasing of premium account, which gives the unlimited access to all courses, costs out at $9. 99 per month.
