Ex-general director of Ukrgasvydobuvannya estimates the company at $10 billion

Alexander Romanyuk does not rule out that the cost of exploring unconventional gas deposits could double

Ukrgazvydobuvannya owns gas fields and licenses of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy. Former acting Oleksandr Romanyuk, CEO of the company, who was fired at the beginning of the year due to the change of the head of Naftogaz, believes that "Ukrgazvydobuvannya costs up to $10 billion, but due to the exploration of unconventional gas deposits, its cost can double."

According to Alexander Romanyuk, a few years ago, a 25 percent stake in the company was almost given into private hands for $4 million.

The former head of Ukrgazvydobuvannya said: “This is the story of joint activities (JV) of Ukrgazvydobuvannya with Karpatygaz. $4 million is the amount that was contributed by a private investor who controlled the Ukrainian legal entity Karpatygaz. This is the largest joint venture that de facto took control of half of the production of Ukrgazvydobuvannya. And since private owners in Karpatygaz had 51%, in fact they owned a quarter of UGV production, although they had more plans."

As a result, this agreement was terminated through the Stockholm Arbitration.

Earlier, Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolesnik said that by the end of the year, gas production in Ukraine would be reduced to 18.5 billion cubic meters due to the war. m. By the beginning of Russian aggression, daily production amounted to about 55 million cubic meters. m, and in summer - 49.5 million cubic meters. m.
