The opening of the facility marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Ukraine’s aquaculture sector. The plant, owned by PJSC “Lviv Regional Fish Processing Complex,” fully complies with international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 22000.
Spanning 6,800 square meters, the plant has a daily processing capacity of up to 25 tons of raw material and can produce 12.5 tons of finished products. The facility comprises four main operational zones: a logistics area for raw material intake and product dispatch, zones for processing fresh, salted, and smoked fish, a section for preparing preserves and semi-finished products, and designated sanitary and utility areas for staff.
Currently, the facility employs 82 people, with plans to increase that number to 283 as operations scale up. The company is also preparing for international market entry, including expanding its export range and introducing feed production and biotechnological waste utilization solutions.
According to Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, only 2% of the region’s fish production potential is currently utilized despite ample water resources. The new facility aims to help unlock this untapped capacity.
In 2024, freshwater fish production in the region reached 1,547 tons — a 30% increase year-over-year — though still insufficient to meet domestic demand.
Founded in 1994, the company produced 1,382 tons of product in 2023 and contributed UAH 6.4 million in taxes. The beneficial owners are Oleksandr and Vitalii Svyshchev, and the company’s CEO is Andrii Kachan.
