During Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Syngenta and Adama Ukraine signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in agricultural sector
Memorandum will contribute to global and local food securities and develop an enabling environment for sustainable business growth of Ukrainian growers and the companies mentioned above.
This cooperation for 400 million dollars will develop within a framework of joint support and actions, investments and projects, including legislative initiatives aimed at bringing the Ukrainian legislation in the agribusiness sector in line with the European Union legislation.
Syngenta and Adama Ukraine agreed to continuously support the employees and their families who suffered from Russian aggression providing them with sheltering and humanitarian assistance, both inside and outside Ukraine, as well as paying market rate salaries.
Also, the companies will further supply their products to small farmers during martial law and steadily invest into logistics infrastructure to improve and expand export routes for agricultural produce, as well as restore sea exports once safe again.
Syngenta and Adama Ukraine will develop and support innovation, research and educational projects with relevant institutions, in particular on soil health, carbon footprint monitoring, biodiversity conservation and enhancement and other areas related to agricultural innovations and sustainability. The companies will also continuously supply high-quality plant protection products and seeds to the growers located on the territory of Ukraine on full or partially deferred payment terms and on the basis of fulfilled agrarian receipts conditions and other types of obligations fulfillment guarantees.
Moreover, the companies committed to support joint working groups, created to help adapt Ukrainian legislation in the agribusiness sector to the one in the European Union.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is committed to elaborate and develop relevant laws and regulations and facilitate communication with authorized state institutions to ensure legal entities implement their obligations.
Markyian Dmytrasevych, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine said: "Encouraging big agribusiness to facilitate and develop Ukrainian agriculture is among our major strivings. That is why we feel this Memorandum enables all members to cooperate on joint support and projects implementation, including legislative initiatives to adapt Ukrainian legislation in the agribusiness sector to the one in the European Union. We will collaborate to push the boundaries of agriculture further and secure the global food security in Ukraine and beyond".
