An industrial agro-park worth UAH 884 million will be developed in Odesa Region, with plans to process vegetables, fruits and potatoes and create around 1,000 jobs. Another industrial park worth UAH 913 million is set to be established in Lviv Region.
The Ukrainian government has added the Bessarabian AgroTech Park in Odesa Region and the Croatian Hostynets Industrial Park in Lviv Region to the Register of Industrial Parks. In total, the two industrial sites are expected to attract around UAH 1.8 billion in investment and create up to 2,500 jobs.
The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy and Environment.
The Bessarabian AgroTech Park will cover 23 hectares and will be located in the city of Artsyz, Bolhrad District, Odesa Region. The initiative to establish the park was launched by the Artsyz City Council.
Around UAH 884 million is expected to be invested in the development of the park. Its creation is projected to generate approximately 1,000 jobs.
The main specialization of the Bessarabian AgroTech Park will be the processing of agricultural raw materials and the production of higher value-added food products. The park is expected to develop potato, fruit and vegetable processing and preservation, the production of vegetable oils and animal fats, other food-industry activities, as well as alternative energy projects.
The development of such production capacity is expected to support the expansion of agricultural processing in Odesa Region and enable local producers to sell not only raw materials but also finished products. It may also strengthen local supply chains and generate additional demand for the output of agricultural producers in the region.
The second industrial park, Croatian Hostynets, will be developed in Lviv Region. It will cover 32.34 hectares and will be located in the Mykolaiv community of Stryi District.
Around UAH 913 million in investment is planned for the project, with approximately 1,500 jobs expected to be created. Unlike the Odesa project, the Lviv industrial park will primarily focus on industrial manufacturing.
The Croatian Hostynets Industrial Park is expected to develop mechanical engineering, equipment manufacturing, construction materials production and alternative energy projects.
Thus, the two new industrial parks will focus on different areas of industrial development: Odesa Region on agricultural processing and the food industry, and Lviv Region on mechanical engineering and the production of industrial equipment and construction materials.
“Two parks — two industries that we genuinely need: mechanical engineering and agricultural processing. Not raw materials, but finished products. This is the path for the development of Ukraine’s economy under the Made in Ukraine policy,” said Vitaliy Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment of Ukraine.
Inclusion in the Register of Industrial Parks allows the projects to qualify for state support measures and is expected to facilitate investment in the development of the required infrastructure. For Ukraine, the development of such sites is one of the instruments for industrial recovery, expansion of domestic production and increasing the share of higher value-added products.
