According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, MaʼRijany Hemp Company began reconstructing an abandoned flax plant in 2023 and launched a high-tech production facility in 2025. The company estimated its investment in the plant at approximately $25 million. The facility spans 10,000 square meters.
The plant will produce long fiber for textiles and technical fabrics, short fiber for paper, insulation, and nonwoven materials, as well as hurds for bioplastics, construction materials, and animal bedding.
In 2024, the company cultivated 890 hectares of hemp; in 2025, it expanded to 1,200 hectares—setting a record for Central and Eastern Europe.
Dmytro Kysylevskyi, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Development, noted that this is the first processing facility in the industry to be revived following the Verkhovna Rada’s adoption of legislation in December 2023 lifting the ban on processing industrial hemp.
MaʼRijany Hemp Company is a resident of the MaʼRijany Industrial Park, which covers approximately 30 hectares.
