In early August, the Slovenian bank Novi KBM announced the sale of pharmaceutical Marifarm to Ukrainian company Arterium, which is owned by businessman Konstantin Zhevago. Novi KBM owned Marifarm property due to the fact that the company could not pay its debts for the bank amounting to EUR 19.5 mln.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed. At this, Arterium neither confirmed nor denied the fact of the deal. As of present, Arterium has representative offices in Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The company produces 149 types of drugs.
Consecutively, it is not clear what list of medicaments Merifarm had been producing. On record, it carried orders on production of some branded pharmaceuticals.
From this perspective, we derive that Arterium may put efforts on entering to the European markets.
Some experts beleive that a decidiing factor of the deal on purchasing Marifarm was the price of it. For instance, Yuriy Chertkov, the CEO of Agency of Medical Marketing estimated Marifarm at EUR 3mln.
