A new investment fund, WildField Ventures, has launched in Ukraine, focusing on early-stage investments in dual-use technology startups — solutions that can be applied in both civilian and defense sectors. The fund aims to raise $10–15 million, primarily to support companies founded by Ukrainians and operating both domestically and internationally.
WildField Ventures will invest at the pre-seed and seed stages, targeting companies in the early phases of development that need capital to build their products and validate their market potential. In the longer term, the fund will also consider startups from countries allied with Ukraine.
The fund's portfolio already includes three companies. Among them is Ukrainian-Estonian DoD Solution, which develops hardware and software for onboard artificial intelligence in unmanned aerial, ground, and maritime systems. The names of the other two startups have not yet been disclosed. Overall, WildField Ventures plans to back 15–20 companies.
The fund will focus on core technology components essential for developing complex products. Priority investment areas include software, sensors, navigation and communication systems, and data processing tools.
Initial investments will amount to $250,000 per startup. The fund may also make follow-on investments of up to $500,000 in its most promising portfolio companies. In addition to financing, WildField Ventures offers technical product assessments and mentorship support for founders. According to the fund, startup teams will also have opportunities to engage with specialists who deploy similar technologies in military operations and work in defense technology development.
Maksym Zubenko, who also serves as Chief Growth Officer (CGO) at Dwarf Engineering, has joined the fund as a Venture Partner. The full WildField Ventures team has not been disclosed, although the fund states that its members have nearly 20 years of investment experience. Its advisors include representatives of Sine Engineering and FoxFour, a company developing autonomous systems for drones.
The launch of WildField Ventures comes amid growing investor interest in Ukraine's DefenceTech sector. The fund aims to help promising technology teams secure early-stage capital and accelerate the development of solutions in demand across defense and related industries.
