Ukrhydroenergo Secures Cabinet Approval for $70M IBRD Loan to Deploy Hybrid Energy Systems

Ukrhydroenergo has received Cabinet approval to obtain a $70M IBRD loan to deploy hybrid power systems and strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience.

The loan will provide additional financing for the ongoing investment project “Ukraine – Increasing Power System Resilience for European Power Grid Integration”. The funds will be extended under a state guarantee.

According to a government representative in the Ukrainian Parliament, Taras Melnychuk, the financing is specifically designated for the installation of hybrid generation systems within Ukrhydroenergo’s infrastructure.

Between 2025 and 2027, Ukrhydroenergo plans to restore damaged capacities, enhance physical infrastructure protection, modernize key assets, and implement government-approved investment projects. These include the reconstruction of hydroelectric power equipment, completion of Phase I and construction of Phases II and III of the Dniester Pumped Storage Power Plant, and development of the Kaniv Pumped Storage Plant.

The company’s strategic roadmap also prioritizes modernization of its infrastructure, initiation of new projects, and integration of innovative technologies to boost operational efficiency and sustainability.
