Ukrhydroenergo to Receive €120M from EIB for Hydropower Plant Modernization

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo with a €120 million first tranche as part of a €200 million financing package for the restoration and modernization of ...

The agreement between the EIB and Ukrhydroenergo was signed on July 10 in Rome during the URC2025 conference.

The total financing will be disbursed in multiple phases.

The funds will be used to restore three hydropower plants damaged by Russian attacks and to carry out urgent repairs in the event of future destruction.

The financing is backed by EU guarantees under the Ukraine Facility — a €50 billion support package for 2024–2027 — and will contribute to both the recovery of generation capacity and the enhancement of the resilience of Ukraine’s hydropower infrastructure.

According to EIB Vice-President Teresa Czerwińska, the project will help supply Ukrainians with clean energy and represents an important step toward implementing further initiatives under the program.
