Yevhen Chernyak to invest $1.3 million in creating a competitor to Jameson and Crown Royal whiskey

Global Spirits founder Yevgeny Chernyak launched a contract whiskey production in Canada, investing $1.3 million in it, and plans to export some of the batches to Ukraine

Global Spirits founder Yevhen Chernyak said he is adding Canadian whiskey to his portfolio. According to him, he has started contract bottling at the Stillus Craft Spirits enterprise in Canada, located between Toronto and Ottawa. Global Spirits plans to release the first batch of Canadian whiskey in November 2025. 50% of it will remain in Canada, the remaining 50% will be distributed between various countries, including Ukraine.

Global Spirits already has two types of American bourbon in its portfolio - Cumberland Falls and Bell Rock, which have been produced on a contract basis in the USA since the COVID pandemic.

Chernyak expects that Canadian whiskey should allow him to enter the low-price segment, he says. To do this, he chose the Canadian family-owned Stillus Crafts Spirits. The production of the first batch is accompanied by Ukrainian technologies.

The bottle, label, and cork are Ukrainian, Chernyak notes. The company purchases 10 million bottles at once, which allows it to get a significant discount on components in Ukraine. According to Chernyak, even taking into account logistics, it is cheaper than production in Canada alone.

“We want to get the final price for selling the product in Ukraine 40% lower than that of world producers, for example, Irish Jameson and Canadian Crown Royal,” Chernyak says.

The first batch should go to Ukraine on November 1, 2025, then to Poland, Romania, and Israel. It will consist of 200,000 bottles of 0.75 liters. Investments in the batch amount to about 2 million Canadian dollars.

The whiskey market in Ukraine is estimated at 12 million liters, in money – 9 billion UAH, the Bayadera Group press service says. This is the third most popular strong alcoholic beverage after vodka and brandy, the Pro-Consulting press service notes.

Canadian whiskey is supplied to Ukraine by Bayadera, DDS+, and Bureau Vin, Pro-Consulting says. Imported whiskey accounts for almost 97% of the whiskey market in Ukraine in monetary terms, with Canadian whiskey accounting for less than 1%.
