Andriy Verevskyi to Acquire Nine Agro-Region Agribusinesses with a 41,000-Hectare Land Bank

Andriy Verevskyi, through Cyprus-based Kapenata Limited and subject to approval by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, is acquiring control over nine agribusinesses of the Agro-Region holding ...

Agribusiness entrepreneur Andriy Verevskyi is expanding his land and production portfolio outside the Kernel agribusiness group. A Cyprus-registered company linked to him, Kapenata Limited, has received approval from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) to acquire part of the assets of the Agro-Region agricultural holding. The deal involves the purchase of nine agribusinesses that are part of Agro-Region, which is owned by former Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development Aivaras Abromavičius and Swedish entrepreneur Lars Peter Håkansson.

According to the AMCU, Kapenata Limited will obtain controlling stakes (over 50%) in the following companies: Harna Logistics LLC, AR Ivky, AR Chudniv, AR Khmelnytskyi, AR Boryspil, AR Kozelets, AR Liubar, AR Borzna, and Bilyi Tsvit. As a result, Verevskyi will effectively consolidate the majority of Agro-Region’s operating assets.

Kapenata Limited is affiliated with Enselco Agro, an agribusiness group spun off from Kernel in 2023. Verevskyi remains the majority shareholder and CEO of Kernel. Following the spin-off, Enselco Agro has focused on independent development and currently cultivates around 134,000 hectares in the Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions. By comparison, Kernel’s land bank is estimated at 550,000–600,000 hectares.

According to YouControl, Kapenata Limited previously held assets within the Enselco Agro group. However, at the end of 2025, the ownership structure was reallocated in favor of another Cyprus-based company, Enselco Holding Limited, indicating an internal restructuring of Verevskyi’s business.

Agro-Region is a mid-sized but well-structured crop farming business by Ukrainian standards. It cultivates 41,000 hectares in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi regions, specializes in grain and oilseed production, and harvests around 200,000 tonnes of crops annually. The holding comprises 11 companies organized into four production clusters, as well as two grain elevators — the Boryspil elevator with 73,000 tonnes of storage capacity and the Myropil elevator with 52,000 tonnes.

The formal owner of Agro-Region is the Swedish company Garna Stockholm Holding AB, in which Aivaras Abromavičius holds a 53.6% stake and Lars Håkansson owns 44.28%.

A Forbes Ukraine source familiar with the transaction said the deal is expected to close in the coming days, marking the effective transfer of control over Agro-Region’s key assets to structures affiliated with Andriy Verevskyi.
