Ukrainian infrastructure company Autostrada has announced the establishment of a large-scale production base dedicated to the construction of the Kyiv Metro extension to the Vinogradar residential district. To date, the company has invested approximately $40 million into the project.
The new facility includes a state-of-the-art Liebherr concrete plant with a capacity of over 100 m³ per hour, a metal structures workshop, and a precast concrete products plant manufacturing essential components for underground construction.
To ensure soil stability and create a reliable foundation, Autostrada has acquired four Jet Grouting units, a Casagrande B200 drilling rig, and an S.A.I.C.I. bentonite plant for implementing diaphragm wall technology. Additionally, over €15 million has been allocated for a tunnel boring machine (TBM), which is scheduled for launch in early 2026.
The project is being executed entirely in-house by Autostrada without subcontractors. The company has carried out large-scale staff retraining and introduced innovative technologies previously unused in Ukraine, establishing a fully integrated production cycle.
According to the contract between Kyiv Metro and Autostrada, the construction works are scheduled to be completed within 30 months, targeting early 2027, with a total project value of UAH 13.785 billion.
Autostrada’s owner, Maksym Shkil, previously expressed concerns in August 2024 about the feasibility of securing such significant funding during wartime.
