Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has announced that Finnish fast-food chain Hesburger will invest more than €12 million to launch at least 10 new restaurants in the western regions of Ukraine within the next five years.
Deputy Minister Oksana Osmachko met with Janni Harjunpää, CEO of East Office of Finnish Industries, and Wanda Zamitska-Bergendahl, CEO of Hesburger Ukraine, to discuss the investment and future cooperation.
The East Office of Finnish Industries is a platform representing the interests of major Finnish corporations, including Kone, Wärtsilä, and Neste, with a combined annual turnover of approximately €50 billion.
Founded in 1966 by Heikki and Kirsti Salmela, Hesburger currently operates in nine countries, with a total of 480 restaurants — including seven in Ukraine (Kyiv and surrounding region). The chain employs more than 9,100 people, of whom 6,000 are based in Finland.
In March, Hesburger launched a production and logistics complex near Kyiv, capable of producing up to six tonnes of meat patties per day and supplying up to 50 restaurants.
