Lithuanian Military Drone Manufacturer UDS Establishes Joint Venture in Ukraine

Lithuanian drone manufacturer Unmanned Defense Systems has established UDS Ukraine to cooperate with Ukrainian forces, train operators and adapt drones to battlefield needs.

Lithuanian defense technology company Unmanned Defense Systems (UDS) has established a joint venture in Ukraine, UDS Ukraine, which will focus on deploying unmanned systems, training operators and cooperating with Ukrainian military units and technology companies.

The company announced the establishment of the new entity in Kyiv on October 6. A permanent presence in Ukraine is expected to enable UDS to work directly with military units operating its unmanned systems and accelerate the adaptation of its technologies to battlefield requirements.

The Ukrainian team will be responsible for deploying UDS systems, training operators and cooperating with military units. The company plans to use operational feedback from Ukrainian users to improve its unmanned platforms and software.

The joint venture is headed by Stepan Veselovskyi, who serves as its CEO and co-owner. The establishment of UDS Ukraine marks a shift from operating primarily as an external supplier to maintaining a permanent presence in the Ukrainian market.

UDS expects that direct cooperation with military personnel will reduce the time between identifying battlefield requirements, implementing technical modifications and deploying updated solutions.

However, UDS has not disclosed the cost of establishing the joint venture or the amount invested in it. The company has also not announced plans to establish a separate manufacturing facility in Ukraine or launch additional production capacity.

Unmanned Defense Systems is a Lithuanian defense technology company specializing in unmanned systems. The establishment of UDS Ukraine expands cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine’s defense technology sector and strengthens direct engagement between the European manufacturer and Ukrainian military users.
