Lux-Oil plans to reconstruct its oilseed extraction plant in the Mykolaiv region, expanding the facility’s infrastructure through the construction of new production and auxiliary facilities. The plans are outlined in a notice of proposed activity published in Ukraine’s Unified Environmental Impact Assessment Register.
As part of the reconstruction, the company intends to build a seed drying complex, a vegetable oil refining and deodorization unit, a bottling facility, storage tanks for finished products, a cooling tower and local wastewater treatment facilities. The project envisages expanding not only processing infrastructure but also facilities for the storage and preparation of raw materials and finished products.
The new refining and deodorization unit will have a capacity of 200 tonnes of oil per day, while the bottling facility will be able to process and package up to 90 tonnes of product per day. Storage tanks with a total capacity of 1,400 cubic metres are planned for finished products.
In addition, the project includes the construction of a 4.5 MW grain drying complex. The facility will enable agricultural raw materials to be prepared directly on the plant’s premises and improve the efficiency of the production cycle.
To supply the expanded production facilities with the required energy resources, Lux-Oil plans to install a 500 kW liquefied gas-fired steam generator, as well as two solid-fuel boilers using sunflower husks as fuel. The project also provides for the construction of a pumping station and cooling towers.
The company also plans to build local wastewater treatment facilities with a capacity of 5 cubic metres per hour. These facilities will treat wastewater generated by the upgraded production complex.
At the same time, the reconstruction does not envisage an increase in the existing processing capacity of the oilseed extraction plant itself. Following completion of the project, the facility will retain its capacity to process up to 1,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds, 450 tonnes of rapeseed and 400 tonnes of soybeans per day.
Planned sunflower oil production will amount to 450 tonnes per day. The project is therefore focused not on increasing oilseed crushing volumes, but on adding downstream capacity for further processing, refining, deodorization, bottling and storage of finished products.
The reconstruction will enable Lux-Oil to expand its production chain and increase its capacity to manufacture higher value-added products while maintaining the existing processing capacities for the main types of oilseeds.
