OKKO Group is preparing a new renewable energy project — the construction of a bioenergy complex for the production of biomethane and electricity in Chortkiv district of Ternopil region. The project is being implemented by Sokolov Energy LLC, according to a notice published in the Unified Environmental Impact Assessment Register.
The complex is planned to be built outside the village of Sokoliv in the Zolotyi Potik community, formerly part of Buchach district. The facility will be a full-cycle production bioenergy complex comprising production, utility, and auxiliary buildings integrated into a single technological process.
The project’s core output will be biomethane and electricity. According to the design indicators, the enterprise will be able to produce up to 13.71 million cubic meters of biogas per year, or around 960 cubic meters per hour, from which up to 3.84 million cubic meters of biomethane per year, or about 525 cubic meters per hour, will be generated. Electricity output is also projected at 14.976 million kWh per year.
The feedstock base for the complex will include cattle manure, corn and rye silage, grain crop waste, as well as the liquid fraction of digestate, a by-product of anaerobic digestion of organic feedstock.
The project envisages year-round operation, 365 days a year, in two 12-hour shifts. The facility is expected to create 51 jobs. Water supply is planned from an on-site well, while drinking water will be delivered separately. Wastewater treatment will be carried out through local treatment facilities and septic systems, while rainwater and meltwater will be discharged through a stormwater drainage system with subsequent treatment.
After the public consultation procedure is completed, the project materials will be submitted to the authorized authorities for a decision on whether construction may proceed.
Sokolov Energy was registered in Lviv in December 2025. Its ownership structure includes a 50% stake held by Ternopil agricultural entrepreneur Petro Hadz and 47.89% held by Vitalii Antonov, co-owner and founder of OKKO Group, effectively making the project part of the group’s energy portfolio.
OKKO is actively expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector and building a private generation portfolio. The company has declared a goal of reaching up to 1 GW of installed capacity by 2030.
Earlier, international financial institutions, including the EBRD, IFC, and BSTDB, approved €157 million in financing for the construction of a 147 MW wind park in Volyn region. In addition, in 2026 it became known that OKKO had acquired UA Renergy, a company that had planned to build a 272 MW wind power plant in Ternopil region.
