Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank Yuriy Katsion said that without financial assistance from partners, Ukraine will not be able to restore the generation destroyed by the Russians.
According to him, investment projects for the construction of one gigawatt of electricity will cost from $700 million in the case of using gas piston or gas turbine technologies and up to $1.5 billion for, for example, wind energy.
Yuriy Katsion emphasized that even the entire banking system of Ukraine will not be able to simultaneously finance all these projects in a short time. Therefore, the top manager of Oschadbank is confident that without European partners this will be very difficult and, most likely, impossible.
The banker believes that it is necessary to attract help from international partners, in particular, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
At the moment, Oschadbank has projects for alternative generation of more than 500 MW under consideration.
Yuriy Katsion noted that the deficit in the energy system will continue for at least one or two years, so it is necessary to find stable solutions that would ensure constant business access to electricity.
