According to Turkish mass media, telecommunicational holding Turkcell intends to buy out 45% of stocks of one of the biggest Ukrainian mobile phone operators «Astelit» (life:) from SCM company, which belongs to Rinat Akhmetov.
Currently, under the management of Turkcell is life:) majority stake in amount of 55%, which is controlled by Turkish holding through the Netherlands Euroasia Telecommunications Holding BV.
According to telecom-analyst of RBC Capital Markets Sun Dillan, it is a viable option for Turkcell, which will allow the company to cross over to 3G much faster. Analyst estimates the price of Turkcell stocks in «Astelit» at $393 mln.
It bears reminding that during the 3G license auction, «Astelit» bought the biggest lot of 3,355 bln UAH. The first 3G networks were launched in Kyiv and Lviv.
Turkish company can get a share of life:) for operating debt. When in 2012 «Astelit» and stuctures, which were bounded to it, pronounced bank debt default, all of life:) property including bank accounts, were bailed on the security of Turkcell.
Apart from life:) share, Turkcell negotiates of buying 3G- division of «Ukrtelekom» – «Trymob». Deal consummation is expected to happen in the third quarter of 2015.
