Ukraine’s Largest Horseradish Producer Invested UAH 8 Million in a New Cider Production Facility

Vinnytsia Food & Gustatory Factory, Pr. JSC invested a UAH 8 million state grant in launching a cider production unit, expanding both its processing capacity and product line

Vinnytsia Food & Gustatory Factory, Pr. JSC, the largest horseradish producer in Ukraine, is expanding its processing operations and entering a new beverage segment. The company has launched a dedicated cider production unit, investing UAH 8 million in the project through a state grant program supporting the processing industry.

The funds were used to build out the production base, including the purchase of large metal tanks and pasteurization equipment. Importantly, the machinery was manufactured in Ukraine at the Kalynivka Machine-Building Plant, reinforcing local industrial cooperation and creating an additional economic effect.

According to the relevant committee of Ukraine’s parliament, projects of this kind demonstrate the multiplier effect of state support: investments in processing stimulate related industries and employment. The factory itself already employs more than 145 people.

The financial basis for the company’s expansion was provided by the growth of its core business — the production of horseradish and mustard. Total output reaches around 18 million jars of products per year. At the same time, the company has been actively increasing exports: its products are supplied to 11 countries, including markets in the EU, North America, and the Middle East, while the export share has risen to 17%. Since the start of the full-scale war, overseas sales have tripled.

The move into cider reflects a strategy of broadening the product line toward segments with higher added value. Overall, the company produces more than 50 product items, ranging from sauces and mayonnaise to beverages and snacks.

The company is also investing in energy resilience by upgrading its infrastructure ahead of a challenging heating season. This reduces operational risks and improves production stability.

Thus, the launch of the cider production unit is not only an expansion of the product range, but also an example of the effective use of state support to scale processing operations, strengthen exports, and support the development of local machine building.
