US-Ukrainian technology company Swarmer, which develops software for managing unmanned aerial systems, has agreed to acquire Ukrainian unmanned ground systems manufacturer Ratel Robotics. The transaction could be worth up to $224 million.
According to the disclosed information, the deal includes cash and Swarmer shares, as well as additional payments contingent on meeting specified conditions. As a result, the final acquisition price may differ from the maximum announced value.
Ratel Robotics specializes in developing unmanned ground platforms designed for operations in combat environments. These robotic systems enable certain tasks to be performed without the direct involvement of military personnel, including transporting cargo and equipment and supporting frontline units.
Swarmer develops technologies for coordinating and controlling groups of unmanned vehicles. The acquisition of Ratel Robotics could expand its technological capabilities by integrating ground robotic systems into its ecosystem of autonomous solutions.
The transaction is significant for Ukraine’s defense technology sector, as it brings together a developer of unmanned systems software and a manufacturer of ground robotic platforms. However, the agreement does not mean the acquisition has already been completed, as the transaction remains subject to the necessary closing procedures.
