Coppertino, a Los Angeles-based startup with Ukrainian origins, has received an undisclosed amount from BeValue, a venture fund which appeared earlier this year in the Ukrainian startup scene. Unnamed sources reported that the transaction amounted to up to $200,000.

Founded in 2011 by Petro Bondarevskyi and Ivan Ablamskyi, Coppertino has maintained its R&D center in Ukraine. Its main product, VOX, is a minimalist and free music player for Mac capable of handling any audio format.

Since its launch in 2013, VOX has become one of the most popular music players for Mac. One year ago, the startup raised $500 000 from leading Ukrainian investment firms AVentures and TA Venture as well as from Danish businessman and Ciklum founder Torben Majgaard.

Coppertino comes as the second startup in BeValue’s portfolio, notes AIN.UA. The first one was social payment startup Wishround, which received $200,000 earlier this year.

BeValue venture fund, which operates via business incubator GrowthUp, is backed by unnamed tech entrepreneurs who intend to invest in a dozen of seed- and later-stage startups.
