Textile-Contact to buy a plant in Poland and modernizes a factory in Chernigov for $1.4 million

Textile-Contact Group is investing USD 1.4 mln to expand the capacity of its textile factory in Chernihiv

The Ukrainian group Textile-Contact is going to buy a closed textile plant in Poland in order to use its equipment to expand its own fabric production in Chernihiv.

According to the founder of the company, the cost of the project is $1.4 million, and it is expected to create about 80 new jobs.

"We have been working towards this for several months, the managing partner of our company TK-Domashnyi Tekstil Volodymyr Martsenyuk held a series of negotiations, and we bought a plant in Poland, which stopped during the times of COVID-19, and, in addition, could not withstand competition from the South East Asia due to the sharp rise in the price of gas. We plan to complete everything by the end of the year and send specialists to dismantle the equipment," said Sokolovskyi.

The equipment will increase fabric production in Chernihiv threefold – from today's 400,000 to 1 million linear meters per month. In addition, there are plans to produce fabric with a width of 220-260 cm, which is not currently produced in Ukraine, but which is needed in the United States and Europe. Now TK-DT Chernihiv produces fabrics up to 180 cm wide.

In addition, the enterprise will produce departmental fabrics and fabrics for workwear.

Oleksandr Sokolovskyi called the project a "big breakthrough" because "everyone is opening businesses in Poland, and we are shipping from Poland."

He recalled that the factory in Chernihiv was partially destroyed by the shelling of the Russian invaders and a fire in March 2022, but already in the summer of last year, production was restored and the production of fabrics began.
