Belarusian entrepreneur found safe harbor in Ukraine and raised $300,000 from Adventures Lab to develop edtech startup duDo

EduDo, an edtech startup with Belarusian roots, has closed a $300,000 funding round led by the Ukrainian venture firm Adventures Lab with participation from Cyprus-based venture studio Embria and Russian business angel Dmitry Vasiliev.

The startup will spend the money to improve the platform, add new features and tools for content creators. Another part of the funding will go to product testing and marketing. The team also plans to develop content monetization tools.

Founded in 2020 by Belarussian entrepreneur Yury Shlaganov and registered in Delaware, US, EduDo is a mobile learning platform for users aged 12-30. Its short, interactive educational videos are similar to TikTok videos and Instagram stories. EduDo offers “an exciting, engaging and easy way to enhance your knowledge in tens of different categories from business to food and art to technology.”

The company consists of 13 Belarusian engineers working on the product. Some of them, including Shlaganov, have moved to Ukraine as a result of the political turmoil in Belarus.

Before launching EduDo, Shlaganov worked with Flint Capital, a venture firm with Eastern European roots, for almost four years.

Adventures Lab venture firm has been operating in the Ukrainian market since late 2019. The average investment ticket size ranges from $300,000 (at the pre-seed stage) to $500,000 (seed stage).
