Germany to Provide Ukraine with €5 Billion in Military Aid

The package includes funding for long-range weapons production, air defense systems, ammunition, and medical equipment

Germany’s Ministry of Defense has announced that a new €5 billion military aid package for Ukraine has been approved by the Bundestag.

As part of the agreement, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov signed a deal to finance the production of long-range weapons within Ukraine. The aid package also includes additional deliveries of ammunition, artillery shells, ground-based systems, and small arms.

German defense company Diehl has signed a contract with Ukraine to supply air defense systems and compatible munitions. In addition, Germany will support the operational readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by financing repair hubs in Ukraine through a joint venture between Ukrainian and German defense companies.

Germany is also supporting Ukraine’s military communications infrastructure and funding the domestic production of medical equipment.
