The international fast-food chain McDonald’s opened 12 new restaurants in Ukraine in 2025, reaffirming the resilience of its investment strategy and its long-term commitment to developing the local market despite ongoing wartime risks. The largest concentration of new openings was in Lviv, highlighting the role of western regions as one of the key drivers of consumer demand and economic recovery.
The network’s expansion covered major cities, regional centers, Kyiv satellite towns, tourist destinations, shopping malls, as well as partnership formats with fuel station complexes. The first openings of the year took place in Zakarpattia region — in Uzhhorod and Mukachevo — where Ukraine’s only 24/7 McDonald’s restaurants were launched, indicating a recovery in mobility and nighttime consumer activity.
Over the course of the year, one restaurant each was opened in Brovary, Lutsk, Hatne, and Zhytomyr. Three new locations appeared in Lviv, including Ukraine’s first restaurant featuring a sustainable design concept, reflecting the company’s focus on ESG approaches. Two additional restaurants were opened in Kyiv, including a unique location on the territory of the city zoo.
The final opening of 2025 was a restaurant in Chernivtsi, launched on December 26, becoming the 120th operating McDonald’s restaurant in Ukraine (out of a total of 135 locations nationwide, some of which are temporarily closed due to the war). The new restaurant is located near the Bukovyna-West bus station at a busy transport junction in the Gravytone residential district. It has a total area of 471 sq. m, seating for 121 guests indoors and 160 on the terrace.
All key service channels are available to customers — dine-in, McDelivery, and McDrive — and the restaurant is equipped with 10 self-service kiosks, enhancing operational efficiency and throughput.
In 2025, McDonald’s opened four more restaurants than in 2024, signaling an acceleration of its investment cycle. The company has confirmed plans to continue expanding its network in 2026, emphasizing its contribution to the Ukrainian economy, job creation, and the development of modern urban infrastructure.
