Cheese Production Plant Worth Up to $30 Million to Be Built in Ternopil

In Ternopil, Ukrainian companies Agroprodservice and Molokia have launched a joint project to build a hard cheese production plant with a capacity of 10 tons of finished products per day

The new project is being implemented by agricultural corporation Agroprodservice in partnership with dairy company Molokia, as announced by Agroprodservice Commercial Director Taras Baran during the New Food Summit, according to Latifundist.

According to Baran, this will mark a new business direction for the corporation, which currently ranks second in Ukraine by milk yield. Agroprodservice currently produces about 220 tons of milk per day and plans to increase this figure to 500 tons in the coming years. The new facility will process 100 tons of milk daily, producing around 10 tons of hard cheese.

Baran emphasized that the company sees its future in deeper milk processing, where the added value of Ukrainian agricultural products is generated. He noted that the future plant’s products will meet high-quality standards comparable to Swiss technologies, with cheeses aged from 3 to 12 months.

According to estimates by the analytical agency InVenture, total investments in the construction of the plant could range from $20 million to $30 million, depending on the level of automation and the country of origin of the technological equipment. Given stable demand, the project’s payback period is expected to be 5–7 years.

The construction of the plant in Ternopil reflects a broader trend in Ukraine’s cheese production industry. In September, it was reported that production would be restarted at the bankrupt Hadiach Cheese Plant in Poltava region, with plans to establish an export-oriented enterprise producing soft cheeses, cottage cheese, and other dairy products with a shelf life of 40–60 days.

Thus, the new Agroprodservice and Molokia project represents an important step in the development of Ukraine’s dairy processing sector, strengthening the country’s export potential and supporting the creation of high-value, premium-quality products.
