Silpo supermarket chain (Fozzy Group) acquired the OVO fruit and vegetable delivery service, which was on the verge of closure.
Market players assume that the cost of the transaction is close to the company’s cost, that is, the volume of investment in the website and branding, which is approximately $500 thousand.
The OVO startup was launched in 2020, but with the outbreak of a full-scale war, it found itself on the brink of survival. However, the potential that remains with the Silpo service can be used to improve its range and positioning in the fresh food category.
Analysts say the acquisition could be an ideal platform for testing and improvements in delivery, especially in the fresh fruit and vegetable category.
Silpo could also acquire a startup for the sake of a team dedicated to delivering food and able to quickly show results.
